What is it?
A spring semester study abroad program, taught in English by professors at ENSEA, one of the top schools in electrical engineering in France.
Where?
In Cergy, France, 35 minutes from the center of Paris. Students will take courses at ENSEA.
When did the FAME program start?
In Spring 2008 with IIT, UB and ENSEA as initial partners for the development of the program and organization of the courses and verification of course transferability.
How many students are there currently and from where?
2 from IIT, 4 from UB and 2 from Colorado School of Mines – total of 8 students for Spring 2008.
What is the maximum number of students the FAME program can accommodate?
13 – 16 students.
Is there a required quota per school?
No.
Who is eligible?
Students who will be in their third year of an undergraduate ABET-accredited degree program, with a major either in electrical and/or computer engineering in Spring 2010.
How many courses are offered for the semester?
A minimum of 5 courses ( approx. 18 credit hours).
What are the courses currently being offered to FAME students?
- Electronic Circuits with Lab ( 6 c.h.)
- Introduction to Microprocessors & Assembly Language ( 3 c.h.)
- Signals & Systems ( 3 c.h.)
- Electromagnetism ( 3 c.h.)
- French Language & Culture ( 3 c.h.)
Are all the courses transferable?
Each course is transferable as the courses offered are in accordance with the ABET-accredited Electrical and Computer Engineering curriculum.
What is the tuition cost for the FAME program?
The cost for tuition for the Spring semester is 3,500 €uros.
When is the payment due?
Upon arrival – by the 1st week of February which is the start of the Spring semester.
What are the approximate dates for the Spring semester?
Around the 1st week of Feb until the middle of June.
When is the deadline to apply for the FAME program?
October 15, of the previous year.
What are the application requirements?
Application form, transcripts certified, letter from your school certifying your eligibility for the program, and an outline of courses you should take that are offered, and approved by your academic adviser.
What about housing (room and board)?
Options for housing will be provided by ENSEA with a list of costs and room type (single or double) sometime in November of the previous year. Each student must indicate his/her preference so that the required rooms may be booked in advance. The estimated cost for food and local transport is about 300 €uros per month. What are the benefits of the program?
Transferability of courses, experience in a foreign culture, courses offered in English, relatively low cost (scholarships, loans from existing financial aid may be applied to the program), better employability in the future.

Do I need a visa?
The temporary long stay visa (from 3 to 6 months), multiple entries, is valid for the entire stay. Students do not need a residency card. Each student should register at www.campusfrance.org and pay the $60 registration fee. You will also need to pay a $68 fee to obtain your visa (4 week wait period).
